As of today, only three weeks stand in the way of me and Joe and our wedding day, and we could not be more excited!
Two days ago, I dropped Joe off at the GSP airport for his flight to Kenya.
Twenty-three hours and several flight changes later, Joe arrived in Nairobi. I have not been in contact with him, but several representatives from New Spring have been sending e-mails to let us know that everyone is safe and ready to begin working with and ministering to the people in Kenya.
While Joe has been gone, I have attempted (along with countless angelic family members and close friends) to tie up many of the loose ends concerning the wedding. I’m also moving into the house that Joe and I will call a home three weeks from today. And I might be eating some ice cream…here and there!
I cannot tell you exactly what Joe is doing at this very moment, but I know that we’re both so excited to get married, to see our family and friends, and to embark on the next chapter of our lives together.
We appreciate so much your love and support during our engagement. Thank you for being there to encourage us and come to our aid when we need a helping hand. We are incredibly blessed, and would not trade this experience for the world!
We’ll let you know all about Joe’s trip once he returns. Please pray for us as we grow closer to our wedding day.
Again, thank you for all that you do. You guys are more than we could ever imagine!
We got to spend some time at the lake and really start nailing down some of the details. The setup. The food. The flow. All that good stuff. I want to go ahead and say the biggest Thank You ever to everyone who is helping pull this all together. I’m so pumped to watch everything fall into place and it really just hits home how blessed we are as a couple.
I posted some hotel information over on “the skinny” page. The reserved rate is good until June 16th so hop on it quick!
I booked the honeymoon earlier in the week. Not going to lie, pretty dang excited about that! Didn’t quite know how that was going to happen. However, rest assured that it did, and we’ll be spending the week after we get married in a beautiful tropical location with more beaches, sun, and silly little umbrellas than we could dream of. You can’t come, sorry.
The invitations went out on Friday. Yeah, so they’re “technically” a week late but being as nitpicky as I am when it comes to design I wanted to find someone that could screen print them and make them look nice. Probably one of my proudest designs.
I leave for Kenya in 12 days and I’m super excited for any and everything that I’m going to experience. It’s really happening, and I can’t wait for the Lord to reveal his plan. If you wouldn’t mind keeping me in your prayers for the next 5 weeks that would be great. I’ve got a feeling that this is going to be one of the wildest rides for the next 5 weeks between kenya, the wedding, and a little tri in the middle.
Thanks so much for joining in this special day with us and let me know if there are any other questions I can answer.
Joe and I have been attending New Spring church for several months now. We’ve joined and gotten plugged in through serving the youth. Needless to say, we’re really enjoying it.
Recently, the senior pastor Perry Noble informed the congregation that New Spring would be taking members of the church to Kenya on a mission trip in June. After Perry explained the mission of the church and the needs of the area, he asked for applications. Joe signed up.
Only nine people were chosen to go from the Greenville campus (which is where we’re located), and Joe got in! He will be leaving for Kenya June 11 and come back June 20, just two weeks before we get hitched!
This is a big deal for us both. We prayed a lot about it, and we knew that it was God’s call for Joe to go. We’re excited, nervous, and anxious to see what happens next.
Oh, and Joe has to get shots. I definitely got out easy on this one!
In other news, I will graduate from North Greenville University on May 7, Joe is currently in between jobs, and triathlon season is officially among us.
We’ve got a lot on our plates, but we’re certainly a blessed couple to be surrounded by such loving friends and family. Thanks for that!
Ash and I are flat out blessed. How, you ask? Because we got the chance to stand behind the lens of Professional photographer Armando Bellmas while he worked his magic. And work his magic he did. He’s crazy talented and here’s a few of the fav’s we walked away with.
I was tired, sweaty, and completely worn-out when I saw him. Then he popped the question. Read all about the events of the day as seen by me, the luckiest girl in the world!
